During our visit, we stayed in a King Studio Suite at The Mills House Hotel, which offered ample space to unwind and recharge during our trip. There was even a separate work area with a desk, which was great for working remotely. A wet bar offers a Keurig coffee maker, mini fridge, and sink. During the renovations led by interior design firm Ealain Studio, the hotel revamped the guest rooms with modern furniture and artwork by Southeastern artist Tracy Murrell. Each room offers a 55-inch flat-screen TV and guests will have access to an outdoor pool.

Over two hours, we explored many of Charleston’s hidden alleyways and passages. We began at the Old Exchange Building and learned how the city used to be walled in during colonial times. We ended at the famous Rainbow Row of bright-colored Georgian townhomes.

Last time we stayed at the Mills was prior to a lot of the renovations. We were pleased with the updates to the bar\restaurant, check in area. There was a classy feel to the hotel before the renovation and even more so afterwards. Located in downtown Los Angeles, this luxurious design hotel is just a 4-minute walk from Pershing Square Subway Station. The marble bathrooms include a hairdryer.Guests at Biltmore Millennium Hotel can swim in the Roman-style indoor pool. They can also work out in the gym.The hotel is within an 8-minute walk from The Museum of Contemporary Art and Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Beautiful hotel, comfortable room, excellent location, very fast valet parking, good food, excellent staff. 1853 – The newly constructed Mills House Hotel costs $200,000 to build and opens to the public. It’s termed “the finest hotel south of New York City”. During these early years, The Mills House was a beacon for innovation and modern tastemakers. Joseph Rainey – one of the most influential freedmen in Charleston and the first African American to serve in the U.S. House of Representatives – operated his barber shop on the ground floor of The Mills House.
A second favorite lunch spot on our trip, Felix is a French restaurant on King Street. Since 2017, the Paris-inspired spot has been serving one of the best espresso martinis in Charleston, sandwiches, soups, and salads. We started with the can’t-miss lobster deviled eggs and fried Brussels sprouts. The Raclette Burger is one of the best burgers you’ll ever try with double short rib-brisket blended patties, caramelized onion, Raclette, and dijonnaise. The Mills House Hotel has unique meeting space available in the form of the Hibernia club building which is right next door, so close in proximity in fact, it might be mistaken as one of the additions to the hotel. This open spaced Hibernia building can service up to 225 people with catering through the Mills House Hotel.
His original barber shop was located on the ground floor of The Mills House in the 1800s. We loved this little coffee and biscuit shop right around the corner from The Mills House so much that we visited three times. First off, the espresso drinks are perfect if you’re a coffee snob like me. The shop bakes its biscuits with ricotta, making them fluffy and delicious. For breakfast, opt for the Butter Me Up sandwich with herb cheese, egg, and pickled shallot.
